Mushwani (Nakhunak) is a kilim and carpet mix with Sumac (embroidery), three techniques in one, produced by the Mushwani tribe in Herat, in southwestern Afghanistan. A master weave, it is also known as the Queen maliky or kilim. Designs are always geometric and most of the pieces come in square and rectangular sizes, as well as runners. Made with fine Beljic wool, which has a velvety feel.
Pieces are of the finest quality. While some of them are newly made, others were produced in the so called happy times of Afghanistan, before the Soviet invasion of 1979.
